🎼Raising awareness of the healing powers of music.
🎼Fundraising for Music Therapy services in Canada.

Amy came to Westminster House from a group home wh Amy came to Westminster House from a group home where she was struggling with addiction. She had experienced violence, dysfunctional family dynamics, and exploitation at a young age. Fear was her primary emotion, and she seemed decades older than her years. Gaining Amy’s trust was a slow process as she was used to adults letting her down and always living in a state of survival. Where talk therapy was counterproductive, music therapy enabled Amy to find a new way to interact with others and to gain a deeper understanding of herself. Learning to trust in healthy ways and to seek support empowered Amy to build confidence and advocate for herself.

“Music Therapy for me provides a safe space to let go of some of my worries using different techniques that are unique to me. It’s not regular counselling experiences I’ve had in the past. In My experience with music therapy, it has allowed me to get close with different groups of women’s that I usually don’t get the chance to know.” Amy, Music Therapy Participant at Westminster House
