Frequently Asked Questions

I am a music therapist who currently resides and practices outsite of British Columbia. Am I eligible for funding?

A: No. At this time, program funding is only available in BC. It is our goal to expand into other provinces, at which time you must be an MTA and a member in good standing with your own provincial music therapy organization. If you are involved in a program outside of BC and would like to discuss opportunities to promote, or partner on specific fundraising initiatives in your area, we encourage you to get in touch with us. Money raised in your city will stay in your city.

Why is funding limited to $15,000 per application?

A: This number was calculated by Music Heals in collaboration with MTABC to represent the required funding to support one additional day of music therapy clinical service per week for one year.

Can I acquire funding from other sources?

A: Yes, you may acquire additional funding from additional sources, including personal and public sources.

When is the deadline for applying?

A: October 1st at midnight of each year. You need only to submit one application per program each calendar year.

How will funding recipients be decided?

A: Only current and complete applications will be considered and approved by the Music Heals Board of Directors. After minimum eligibility has been determined, applications will be reviewed for clarity, need, and clinical relevance. Will you provide feedback as to why my application was declined?

A: Yes, upon request.
