Music therapy has made a significant difference in the lives of our residents. It has helped to reduce isolation, bolster spirits, and nurture connection. Without our partnership and generous support from Music Heals we would not have the phenomenal, life-impacting program that currently exists.

Music Therapy

Music Therapy is the skillful use of music to promote, maintain and restore an individual's physical and mental health.

Certified music therapy is a versatile form of therapy that can benefit individuals of all ages and backgrounds. From children with developmental disabilities to adults with Alzheimer's disease, music therapy can be tailored to meet the unique needs of any demographic.

  • Certified Music Therapists (MTA’s) have specific education on how the various properties of music affect all aspects of health.
  • Music Therapy can create transformational results for individuals of diverse ages and abilities.
  • MTA’s must have a bachelor’s degree from a university approved by the Canadian Association for Music Therapy (CAMT) and complete a 1000-hour supervised clinical internship and a final exam

George often found regular music classes to be too loud and overwhelming. However, with music therapy, George found that the environment was quieter and more supportive, allowing him to feel calm and centered.

Make a Donation

Your donations help us to reach people from all walks of life with the healing power of music.

Each year, Music Heals receives funding applications from facilities for their often underfunded music therapy programs. Unfortunately, the demand for funding frequently exceeds our capacity, and many facilities go without much-needed funding each year. This is why the support from our donors and sponsors is so crucial.

  • Every $75 donation funds 1-Hour of Music Therapy for someone in need

When a child is stuck in a body that has been medically traumatized and constantly fighting disease, pain, low muscle tone etc. The body/mind can easily go inwards. Music therapy really brings one’s awareness out in many subtle ways. It is gentle, fun and a way to express what has been hidden away.
